NEWS
polylabelr 1.1.0
Features
- The algorithm has been updated to match 'polylabel' 2.1.0, which makes
poi()
roughly 25 to 35 times faster on large polygons. The search now flattens the
polygon into a single coordinate buffer, skips whole blocks of edges via
precomputed bounding boxes, seeds each cell with its parent's nearest segment,
and stops measuring as soon as a cell cannot beat the best candidate.
Bug Fixes
poi() no longer returns a point outside of the polygon when the precision is
too coarse for the search to refine its first guess. Polygons whose centroid
falls outside of them, such as crescents, could previously return a point far
outside the polygon, with a negative distance.

Bug Fixes
- We now condition the use of
std::result_of on the C++ standard version
since it was removed in C++20, and then replace it by std::invoke_result.
polylabelr 0.3.0 (2024-11-19)
Features
- add
poi_multi() to handle multi-polygons (0c6e15a), closes #7
Documentation
- adapt news file to work with release-please (5179f43)
polylabelr 0.2.0 (2020-04-19)
New features
poi() supports simple features objects from the sf package (#2, thanks @kent37).
Bug fixes
- The
CITATION file now correctly displays the year of the package.
